What are the differences between market and limit orders?

What is a market order?

A market order is an order to buy/sell digital assets immediately at the best available price from the market. Market orders take prices from limit orders on the order book, therefore you are not guaranteed the price you will get.

What is a limit order?

A limit order is an order to buy/sell digital assets at a specific limit price that you set yourself. The trade will only be executed if the market price reaches your limit price.

• For a limit buy order, the order will be matched when the market price is equal to the limit price or lower.
• For a limit sell order, the order will be matched when the market price is equal to the limit price or higher.
