What is Polkadot?

Polkadot (DOT) is a network protocol that allows arbitrary data to be transferred across blockchains. Polkadot aims to be a multi-chain application environment, connecting each blockchain, including private and consortium chains, public and permissionless networks and others, together using Relay Chain technology.
